    Hello,
I represent an author of a textbook for children being raised pagan, and I would like to have a link to the site (for the book) included somewhere on your site.
She has currently published only one text book, but it is to be the first in a series for children.

Help! A friend of mine is being threatened with the removal of her children from her custody because of an ignorant ex-husband manipulating the kids. Her lawyer is totally unknowing about Wicca, and has cut her loose for the most part. It feels like a miniature witch-hunt in this small town. Pauline C. Upstate NY(stormmoon54@hotmail.com)

I just completed a book on Paganism for teenaged boys. It is quite different from anything else on the market in that it emphasizes responsibility and self reliance rather than shiny tools and fluffy spells. It is currently being considered by 0-Books in the UK. The publisher’s main concern is that the market is too small: teenaged boys don’t buy books. I believe that my book would be something a Pagan parent would want for their son. I am not going to spam this forum with a product to buy. I would like to enter into a conversation with any here who is interested.

Merry Meet! My name is Natalie, and I co-publish broomstix.com a free resource for pagan children–the Samhain issue is up now! My fellow publishers Kat (who is also my elder), Charlotte and I started this online magazine as a community service. Please have a look and let us know what you think, and if your group or family finds it useful–we are always looking to improve. We’re also looking for writers and artists too.

    Bright Blessings!

Michael, what’s the name of the book? Do you have a web site about it? I haven’t seen nearly as much material for male teens or their parents as for females, so it sounds like you’ve found a good niche!

Pauline, has your friend approached any of the advocacy groups for help? Many are listed at http://www.religioustolerance.org/witchcr2.htm .

Natalie and Matt, your projects look very interesting! We’ll check them out :-)

The name of the book is The Horned God in Every Boy. I have just signed contract with John Hunt Publications/0-Books so I expect it to be out late this year or early next.

Natalie, your magazine sounds very interesting. I’ll check out the website. It think I’d like to contribute.

    Natalie,
I looked at your site. It’s a pretty nice little magazine. I’m especially impressed by the listing of past contributors. While I have taught lower elementary grades in public school, I’ve never written anything on Paganism for that age audience. My book is intended more for the 13-21yr age range. Let me think on it and see what I can come up with.

I am working on a pagan childrens book, I’d like to make it a ‘series’ about the Pagan holidays, through the eyes of my children. However, I find it very hard to find any one who accepts new authors for publishing! and I really dont have the $ right now to self publish. So, I am currently working on the book, and my friend is working on illustrations, and I guess we will see how things end up in the long run. Just wondered if any of you have any publishing advice?

    Hi Shel,

You might want to consider Lulu or Create Space–both of these are print on demand publishers that require minimal outlay on the part of the writers/artists, and there are marketing options as well. I would suggest having your book edited before you bring it to the market–are you all part of a writer’s group or the SCBWI–both of these are great resources for folks writing and illustrating for kids. Good Luck! Nat :)

    Shel,
The publishing business is really hard to break into. I would suggest my publisher 0-Books. They are small, work with first time authors, but you will have to do a lot more work than with the big companies. No, they aren’t a vanity publisher or print on demand. Good luck.
